The inside of the Colosseum was undoubtedly mind-blowing and XXL – Extra, Extra Large! In fact, this oval amphitheater in the center of the city, built from concrete and sand, is said to be the largest amphitheater ever built. One can only imagine the sheer scale of the gladiatorial contests and public spectacles that were enthusiastically cheered on by crowds of anything between 50,000 and 80,000 spectators! In addition to being XXL, this Flavian Amphitheater is also resilient, after being built in 70-80 AD and partially ruined because of damage caused by earthquakes and stone-robbers, it still stands tall in all it’s glory up until today!
